Information For Authors

African Journal of Social Sciences Education is a biannual, peer-reviewed journal of the Faculty of Social Science Education of the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. The ideal paper should be interesting, accessible and rigorous. Each submission to the AJSSE should be relevant and topical, advancing the journal’s aim of providing insight into Social Science Education in Africa. To speed up the review process, it is recommended that authors submit their articles through the journal's online platform in Microsoft Word format. The submission must conform to the following guidelines:

Originality:

African Journal of Social Sciences Education will not consider a manuscript that is being reviewed by another journal at the same time. AJSSE will not consider an article that has been published previously in a similar form.
Title page:

The author’s (s) full name (s) and contact information (i.e., email address, telephone number and postal address) should appear only on the title page. The title page should be on a separate page from the main text of the article but in the same document.

Author biographical Note:

A short biographical note of the author/authors not exceeding one hundred words for each author must be included on the title page.

Acknowledgements:

Authors are expected to reveal the source of any financial or research support received from any organization, institution or funding agency in connection with the preparation of their article. This should be included in the first footnote of the article.

Length:

The preferred length of an article is between 6 000- and 8 000-words excluding footnotes and references. Book reviews should be between 1200 and 2000 words. Articles should only be submitted in English.

Abstract:

All articles should be accompanied by an abstract of 200 words stating the main research problem, methodology, major findings and conclusion(s).

 Spelling:

Use the Oxford Dictionary for spelling (i.e., British spelling conventions). Abbreviated words should be written out in full the first time it is used, followed by the abbreviation in brackets. Thereafter, the abbreviation could be used.

 Notes and references:

Due to the broad scope of the disciplines within the social sciences, the Africa Journal of Social Sciences Education accepts the APA and Chicago referencing styles. Authors should, however, be consistent in their use of their preferred style, i.e., either APA or Chicago full note. If you choose APA, you should list the full references at the end of the article under the heading, References. If you choose to use the Chicago full note style, you are not required to list the references at the end of the article. You must, however, use footnotes throughout the text and the number should be consecutive beginning from 1.
